This physician desired an improvement of her abdomen. She via proper exercise and nutrition lost a significant weight prior to seeing me. She realized that she needed to lose further weight, but felt that the excess skin (pannus) was impairing her ability to lose more weight. She was informed that central upper abdominal fat was not going to be addressed via tummy tuck surgery, as this region should not be addressed via liposuction concurrently with a tummy tuck surgery (compromises the blood supply). She underwent an uneventful tummy tuck surgery and was very pleased with the outcome. Note that the central abdominal region appears significantly improved despite no fat removal. This is due to the "stretching" phenomenon of the skin to the suprapubic region which makes it look thinner. The patient was very happy and most importantly, used the surgery as a platform for further weight loss and healthy living. This is truly a success story. Subsequently, she underwent a breast lift/reduction surgery at a later time. Given the new abdomen, she felt that her breasts were too large. Although not shown here, she underwent a successful breast reduction surgery with uneventful recovery.
