Oregon & Washington Brow Lift
As we grow older, different individuals begin to show signs of aging in different areas. For some, the upper face or eye area may be the first to deteriorate with age, either due to heredity or environmental conditions. The lined forehead and drooping or hooded brow, for many people, is an unwelcome side effect of growing older. But there's help for residents of Portland, Oregon to Olympia, Washington - brow lift plastic surgery can restore a more youthful, yet natural appearance to your forehead and eyes.
Recent advances in medical technology, such as endoscopy, have made this procedure simpler and safer than ever before. Dr. Christopher Chung utilizes advanced techniques in brow lift surgery to create beautiful results with minimal scarring and recovery time.

Brow Lift
As the name implies, brow lift surgery elevates the sagging skin of the brow area, and tightens the forehead to smooth out wrinkles. Both vertical and horizontal forehead wrinkles are diminished, and heaviness in the upper eyelid area is alleviated. The muscles of the forehead are adjusted to relax them, leaving the upper face with a more open and refreshed appearance. Dr. Chung can perform brow lift surgery using traditional, endoscopic, or limited incision techniques. Many people who have brow lift surgery also choose to have a facelift or eyelid surgery.
Your Brow Lift Options
Traditional Brow Lift
For patients with very deep forehead wrinkles, Dr. Chung performs the traditional brow lift to smooth and lift the brow area. This approach utilizes a full coronal incision, which runs from one temple to the other across the crown of the head, and is hidden within the hair. This incision allows for the removal of excess skin as well as alteration of forehead muscles, which will result in a softening of vertical scowl lines as well as horizontal creases.
This more extensive surgery typically takes around 90 minutes, and usually requires general anesthesia. There is some risk of hair loss, as well as changes to the hairline. However, this approach may be the best option for those who have moderate to severe wrinkling and sagging of the forehead. At times, a modified incision placement just behind the hairline can be considered to minimize changes to the hairline for those with preexisting receding hairline.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Fiber optic technology allows Dr. Chung to perform the brow lift procedure through a series of small incisions hidden within the hairline. These incisions (less than 2 centimeters in length) allow Dr. Chung to reposition underlying tissue and smooth out wrinkles, but do not facilitate the removal of excess skin. Through an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Chung can trim the forehead muscles, causing them to relax and creating an effect similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic.
The endoscopic brow lift can be performed using local anesthesia with sedation and typically takes less than 1 hour. Although it poses less risk of hair loss and creates less scarring, it may not be an option for those with deep forehead wrinkles or significant sagging of the brow.
Limited Brow Lift Techniques
For many patients, a full forehead lift, either via a traditional approach or even an endoscopic technique, may not be needed and would be premature for the degree of aging seen. In these circumstances, Dr. Chung can tailor more limited brow lift procedures to achieve successful periocular rejuvenation, often in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery. These limited incision techniques utilize small incisions either in the temple region or just behind the hairline and can be accomplished under local anesthesia with minimal side effects and potential complications. Many of Dr. Chung's patients have enjoyed the benefits of these, and other limited incision techniques for facial rejuvenation often employed by Dr. Chung.
To enhance your new image and maximize surgical outcomes, Dr. Chung incorporates skin treatments at Flourish Skin & Laser as a part of every plastic surgery at his Vancouver, Washington area practice. Beginning approximately 6 weeks after surgery, you may undergo a series of spa treatments to refine skin tone and minimize scarring.
