Olympia Area Breast Lift
Today's woman works hard to look and feel healthy and fit. Unfortunately, there are some changes that occur in the body that cannot be reversed by diet and exercise. For women, their breasts can be particularly affected by aging, as the delicate skin loses elasticity due to time, gravity, and the changes that occur during pregnancy. A breast lift for Portland, Oregon and Olympia, Washington women can make the difference in restoring a naturally youthful appearance.
Dr. Christopher Chung, a plastic surgeon in Longview, Washington, can help you achieve the firmer, shapelier breasts of your youth with breast lift surgery. This popular procedure removes the excess, stretched skin to elevate and reshape the breasts for a more pleasing contour.

Your Breast Lift Options
Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure designed to elevate and tighten the breasts by eliminating the excess skin which has become stretched over time. In most cases, the nipple is moved to a higher position, but in all cases, it is kept attached to nerves and blood vessels so that it remains viable and functional. The newly lifted breast that results from mastopexy looks and feels firmer and more youthful, and may even allow the patient to go without a bra if she desires. For women from towns such as Vancouver, Longview, and Olympia, breast lift can be performed using one of the following surgical approaches:
Donut Technique
The donut, or concentric, breast lift is a good option for women with smaller breasts and less sagging, who require a lesser degree of lift and want to minimize incisions. This approach utilizes a circular incision and removes a donut-shaped section of skin from around the areola resulting in a tighter, more lifted breast appearance. This technique is often combined with breast implants (saline or silicone gel) to achieve a greater fullness and projection (especially of the upper half of the breasts) while tightening the skin envelope. Dr. Chung also can reduce the size of enlarged areolas through this incision if needed.
Lollipop Technique
For women who have a greater degree of breast sagging that cannot be corrected with the donut technique, the vertical or lollipop incision may be an option. This approach adds a vertical incision that extends down from the areolar incision, forming the shape of a lollipop. Through this incision, more skin and tissue can be removed, allowing for increased lifting and shaping of the breast.
Anchor Technique
For women with a significant degree of sagging, the anchor incision is the best option. This incision encircles the areola, descends vertically, and then underscores the curve beneath the breast, forming an anchor shape. Through this technique, more tissue and skin can be removed, and the nipple and breast can be elevated to a greater degree, thereby allowing for the maximum lifting and re-shaping of the breasts.
Breast Augmentation with Breast Lift
Many women desire more breast volume in addition to lifted breasts. For our patients in the Olympia area, breast augmentation can be performed in conjunction with mastopexy for a more complete breast enhancement. Dr. Chung can insert implants at the time of breast lift surgery, which will increase breast size and projection, and may reduce the amount of skin that needs to be removed.
To minimize scarring and maximize surgical outcomes, Dr. Chung incorporates laser treatments at Flourish Skin & Laser as a part of your aftercare. Beginning approximately 6 weeks after surgery, you may undergo a series of spa treatments to improve both the color and elevation of your scars.
